The menu at Le Refuge inn is derived from French country traditions and the large selection of fresh seafood makes Le Refuge on City Island the most unique dining destination.  Guests can enjoy candlelight dinner, appetizers such as an excellent lobster ravioli, a crab cake, gratineed oyster or go the traditional Gallic route with escargots and a spicy venison terrine with pink peppercorns.

Entrees vary from dishes like plump filet mignon with an airy béarnaise sauce, succulent duck with grapefruit and wild rice, tender grilled lamb
chops in a red wine reduction, pasta garnished with scallops, pinenuts and pesto, Mediterranean shrimp couscous.  The bouillabaisse is the best on the this side of the Atlantic, with lobster, assorted shellfish and other creatures of the sea happily swimming in a piquant red broth.

After playing what's the secret ingredient with the complex tastes of the main meal, the palate falls onto a pillow of creamy deserts, such as orange cheesecake, profiteroles, lemon mouse resting on sponge cake surrounded by raspberry coulis, and of course, a light crème brule with a crisp layer of caramelized sugar.
